Haiti: Week 2

It’s been another really great week here in Haiti! On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week, we had “intern training” and it was really encouraging to hear all about the vision of Mission of Hope, and the awesome ways God is working. After our intern “test” on Wednesday, we received our green polo t-shirts from MOH, making us pretty legit…ha!

This was a really great week with hanging out with teams, and getting to meet a lot of fun people!

(photo cred: multiple people who are sweet enough to tag me on facebook, ha!)

myself, Hannah, Kristin, Landon, Tiffany, Angela, Olivia, and Jackie. (Landon and Angela were down at MOH on individual trips, and the rest of us are interns!)

Sandy and I painting. She’s a sweet lady from Michigan who came up with a brilliant plan for a paint container – dried out coconuts! 🙂

Sweet Jill, from Arkansas – I love all of the amazing people in this group! (side note: this picture was taken at about 5:45 am on the day they left…which is why it looks like we are almost asleep! ha!)

As far as prayer requests, I ask that you would all be praying for my heart – that I would not try to answer the questions I have with my own knowledge, but that I would always turn to the Lord and His Word.

I think one thing I noticed in college was finally being in a place where I was to think for myself…while it has been a huge time of growth, I have also sensed a rise in skepticism in my heart.  Not skepticism of the Lord and His existence, but questions of “WHY?” These past several months have been incredible because I can see and KNOW that the Lord does not intend for me to have all the answers, but He shows me the perfect scripture in the perfect times that provides peace that I cannot even understand. I was reading Colossians 2 this morning, and was so comforted at how the Lord’s Truth is always true. I know that sentence doesn’t make the most grammatical sense, but when I think of a foundation to base my life, eternity, hope on – IKNOW the Holy Spirit inside of me yearns for Jesus. Jesus is the only Truth. If you would be praying that I rest in the LORD, and not try to answer questions based on my own knowledge, I would so greatly appreciate it. These past few weeks have been really great, but not without trial. I am so looking forward to the Lord growing my faith, and drawing me closer to Him. What a sweet season this is!

Also, I have been reading Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers…WOAH. Now I know why people love this book so much. I’m almost finished, and I’m loving every minute of it! What a beautiful, GRACIOUS, perfect God we serve.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.
